Beginning Quilling
Location: Upstairs Studio Cost: $10.00 member/$15.00 nonmember Minimum: 4 Students Maximum: 16 Students Ages: 8-12 need to be accompanied by an adult. Teens and Adults are welcome! Not just a kid’s class—open to all ages! Quilling is the fantastic art of curling paper. This unique art form can add a special touch to decorate things like cards, gift tags, ornaments, wall decorations, magnets, and original fine art. We’ll learn the basics of quilling in this class, and work on creating holiday cards and snowflakes. Create a beautiful, three-dimensional piece of art with mere paper strips! Quilling is the age-old art of paper curling, invented in the 16th century by French and Italian monks as a way to decorate frames and relic boxes. This unique art form can be used to decorate things like cards, gift tags, magnets, ornaments, wall decorations, and original fine art, to add a special, unique touch. It’s a simple process that yields impressive results. We will learn the basics of the art of quilling in this class, and focus on creating things like holiday cards and snowflakes. New to Crossroads—Jenna Lechner, Portland, OR Jenna Lechner is an illustrator, teacher, and writer living in Portland, OR. She is currently watching Scandal, drawing, and wearing a knit sweater out-of-season, probably. Jenna studied art and art history in Florence, Italy, and the University of Oregon. She received a bachelor’s of fine art degree (in printmaking) in 2010. She works in natural media like watercolor, gouache, and pen and ink. She also enjoys paper crafts, print media, and writing profiles in the third person. She has worked with—and been featured by—people like: Adobe, Pentel of America, HTC, Wildcat Echo, ArtAsiaPacific, The Cleavery Quarterly, the Portland Mercury, the Willamette Week, Paper Darts, Grounded Magazine, Galler.ee Inc, the Daily Serving, Wide Eyes Paper Co., and more!
