CASCADIA - Where Oregon Meets
"Cascadia -- Where Oregon Meets," is a traveling fine art juried photography exhibition. 48 uniquely Oregon photographs which emphasize our similarities and diversity as a state, yet aspires to bridge the east and west, urban and rural -- divided historically, geographically and politically by the lofty Cascade Range. Artists were given two theme's for direction; Oregonians at Work and Play, and Views of Oregon. Crossroads received 166 images; two jurors chose 48 to be included in the exhibition. The final 48 have been judged by three fine art photographers, the juried show will visit The Dalles for the month of May and the Campus of OSU for the month of July after the inaugural opening at Crossroads on April 6 and will run through April 28. "Crossroads is extremely pleased with the content imagery, range, quality and representation the final 48 photographs depict of our beautiful and unique state," commented Kristin Hauter, Community Art Director of Crossroads. "I believe the exhibit will appeal to a wide audience with some familiar sights yet has more than a few surprising fresh ones to offer the viewer, I'm in awe of so many," continued Hauter. Eleven of the 47 exhibiting photographers will be awarded cash prizes ranging from $500 for Best of Show and People's Choice to $100 for Honorable Mention. $4000 in total will be awarded. With financial and gracious support of The Ford Family Foundation, this project was made possible. The Ford Family Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation located in Roseburg, Oregon. Their Visual Arts Program offers assistance to individuals and organizations throughout the state of Oregon In conjunction with the exhibition, the publication of "CASCADIA," a 104 page book in hardcover and soft has been produced and will be available to purchase at all three venues.
