Haines Days Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration
The "Haines Days" Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration is a full day of fun for the whole family! The event starts at 7 a.m. at the Dick Camp Memorial Park, across 3rd Street from the city office, with registration for the Independence Day fun run and walk, with 5k and 10k events. Proceeds benefit the Baker High School track and cross-country programs. The races begin at 8 a.m.; cost is $25 per entry / $10 for ages 4-10; 3 and younger participate for free. Participants can also register prior to the 4th of July at the Baker County YMCA fitness center, located at 3715 Pocahontas Road in Baker City.
A cowboy breakfast is served at the Elkhorn Grange, located at 925 3rd Street, in Haines, from 7 to 10 a.m. Tickets will be available at the door. The all-you-can-eat meal includes pancakes, ham, egg, coffee and milk. Proceeds benefit the Baker High School Class of 2025.
The Parade starts at 10 a.m., with the Baker County Sheriff's Department, leading, followed by the Grand Marshalls and the American flag, carried by members of the Baker City Elks Lodge #338. The Baker Elks will have a $100 challenge for spectators to throw as much as they can onto the flag, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Veterans. Steffi Carter will sing our National Anthem as the flag stops.
There are several other events in the parks, including kids activities, and the "Haines Days" art festival, selling handcrafted arts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A fund raising BBQ for the SPC. James Mabry Anders Memorial Foundation opens after the parade, around 11 a.m.
The "Haines Days" Fireworks begin at approximately 10 p.m. near the Rodeo Grounds.
